S block elements

Hydrogen- This element is the only element that is a group of it's own and its common evreyday use is for fule that is used in your cars

 

Alkali metals- These elements are good conducters then most elements.

Lithium- This element is used for batteries in phones comupters and cars.

Sodium-Sodium is used as a heat exchanger in some nuclear reactors.

Potassium-The greatest demand for potassium compounds is in fertilisers.

Rubidium- is little used outside research. It has been used as a component of photocells.

Caesium- The most common use for caesium compounds is as a drilling fluid

Francium- has no uses, having a half life of only 22 minutes.

 

Alkali earth metals- These elemnts are not found free in nature 

Beryllium- is used in alloys with copper or nickel to make gyroscopes, springs, electrical contacts, spot-welding electrodes and non-sparking tools. 

Magnesium- is used in products that benefit from being lightweight, such as car seats, luggage, laptops

Calcium-is used as a reducing agent 

Strontium- is best known for the brilliant reds its salts give to fireworks and flares. 

Barium- Most is used in drilling fluids for oil and gas wells.

Radium- is sometimes used to treat prostate cancer that has spread to the bones.
