Vegas is a place known for its great shows and the Lightning put a great one at the NHL's All-Star Skills Compilation. Here is how each of our Bolts faired in their respective competitions.
Andrei Vasilevskiy
Vasy would be the first Lightning player to take the ice in the Dunkin' Save Streak. This year would be a little different though as Vasy teamed up with the other Atlantic Division goaltender, Jack Campbell. Vasy stopped all but one shot during the event, with the one goal coming from Kreider, who pulled the famous no-shot move Kucherov made in the past. Vasilevskiy and Campbell combined for a streak of nine saves which no other team was able to pass, giving them the win.
Victor Hedman
Hedman was the next Lightning player up this time in the EA Sports Hardest Shot challenge. Hedman was the only player to break 100 MPH on both of his shots, and his second shot of 103.2 MPH would hold as the hardest shot, giving him his first-ever win in the skills competition.
Steven Stamkos
Stamkos would close things out for the Lightning as he took part in a new event called NHL 21 in 22. The competition featured a bunch of poker cards which the players had to shoot and try to make Blackjack (21 total/ace and face card). Each contestant would make it to 21, and we would have to go into sudden death where the highest card would win. Stamkos and Pavelski tied for the highest card hit, so we needed to go one more round. Stamkos would just miss his next shot giving Pavelski the win. Even though Stammer wasn't able to come away with the win, he did have the best line of the night.
Final Thoughts
The Lightning finished the night with two 1st place, and one 2nd place finish, an impressive showing to say the least. The NHL did a great job with the skills completion this year with some great highlights and memorable moments from all of the events.
