The Big Rig is staying put in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay Lightning vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced Tuesday the Lightning have re-signed forward Pat Maroon to a two-year contract extension worth an AAV of $1 million.
The 33-year-old Maroon has recorded seven goals and 13 points in 45 games so far this season. Currently in his third season with Tampa Bay, Maroon has skated in 164 regular-season games with the Lightning, and 48 playoff games over the previous two seasons, helping the Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons. Maroon has put up 20 goals and 30 assists in those 164 regular-season games, while contributing three goals, seven assists in 48 playoff games.
Maroon has won the last three Stanley Cups awarded, winning the prestigious trophy in the 2018-19 season with the St. Louis Blues. Since the 2019 playoffs, no player has played in more Stanley Cup games than Maroon (74). Should he play out the contract, the Lightning will be Maroon's longest-tenured team.
