Game Summary
1st Period
Both teams got off to a fast start, with both teams combining for eight shots in the first four minutes. The Lightning would then get an opportunity on the power play, which has been struggling as of late. The Bolts went to work quickly as Palat snuck a shot right under the arm of Korpisalo for a 1-0 lead.
The Bolts picked up the pace after the goal with multiple shots on goal and good offensive zone pressure. The Blue Jackets held them off to keep the dedicate at one.
The Lightning would then have to kill off a penalty which they did successfully, but it would come at a price. Eric Cernak blocked a shot and was shaken up on the play.
The Lightning didn't slow down after the penalty kill as just moments later Palat made a great deflection in front, sending the puck into the back of the net, extending the lead to two.
Cernak would then return to the game, letting Bolts fans take a big breath. The Bolts continued to control this game and eventually drew another penalty on a Hedman breakaway. The power play stayed, as Corey Perry did what he does best and worked the front of the net to make it 3-0.
2nd Period
The Blue Jackets would finally get themselves on the board early as Kukan fired one home to cut the Lightning lead to two.
This did not sit well with the Bolts as they quickly responded, and eventually, Point blasted one into the back of the net to make it a 4-1 hockey game.
The dam was broken at this point as this time Nyquist picked his corner and best Vasilevsky to make it 4-2.
After we had four goals in the first four minutes of the game, things settled down in the Bolt's favor as both teams began to limit chances.
The Lightning then got another opportunity on the power play, and they would cash in once again as Pat Maroon tapped it home for a 5-2 Lightning lead.
The Bolts got back to controlling this game and would then bead to the second intermission leading by three.
3rd Period
The Lightning did not let off the gas pedal as, just two minutes into the game, Bellmare joined the scoring party to give the Bolts a 6-2 lead.
It was all about shutting this game down now for the Bolts as they held a four-goal lead. While the Lightning continued to shut down the Blue Jackets, they continued to tack on a few more goals as Killorn made a great move in front to make it 7-2.
The Lightning would then coast for the rest of the period and would pick up their 22nd win of the season in a big bounce-back game.
