The Tampa Bay Lightning will begin their quest for a 3rd consecutive Stanley Cup on September 28, the team announced today.

The Bolts' preseason slate includes all of the members to make the playoffs from the 2020-21 Central Division, which include the Lightning's first 2 opponents in the 2020-21 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The preseason will start on September 28 against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena, as the two teams will rekindle their second-round battle from last year's playoffs, before shifting to Amalie Arena for a September 30 game against Nashville and an October 1 game against Nashville.

The Lightning will then travel to Bridgestone Arena for their away game against Nashville, before heading over to the Amway Center for an interstate matchup against the Florida Panthers in Orlando. Last year's first-round opponents will face off in a three-game series, first at the Amway Center, then at Amalie Arena on October 7, and finally at BB&T Center on October 9.

With the NHL not having a preseason last season, the Lightning were relegated to a Blue vs. White Scrimmage on January 10, 2021. This preseason will allow younger players to compete for a roster spot, while the veterans get back into their groove.
