Victor Hedman Named 11th LightningCaptain

By Jake Ricker

The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially named Victor Hedman their 11th captain in franchise history.

It doesn't come as much of a surprise that Hedman will wear the C for the Lightning after previous captain Stamkos signed with the Nashville Predators in the offseason. Hedman, just like Stamkos, has been with the Lightning since day one and has been an Alternate captain since the 2014-2015 season. Hedman is a cornerstone of the Lightning organization, and this move only furthers his spot in Lightning history.

In 15 seasons with the Lightning, Hedman has played in over 1,000 games with 156 goals, 572 assists, and 728 points. Hedman is the franchise leader among defencemen in goals, assists, points, +/-, and 1st in GWG. He also will pass Stamkos in GP this upcoming season.

Hedman will look to help lead the Lightning back into the postseason after a few big offseason changes. Be sure to follow us on X @BoltReport_TB to stay up to date on all things Lightning all season long.
