Game Summary

1st Period

It was a quick start for the Flyers as they outshot the Lightning 6-2 in the first seven minutes of the game. However, The Lightning would respond and look to take control of this game. After a few good chances in front of the net, Ryan McDonagh put one in the back of the net to give the Bolts a 1-0 lead.

The Lightning weren't done yet, though, as just moments later, Corey Perry found a rebound and baked hit off of Hart's pad and into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Even when the Flyers responded with some chances of their own, Brian Elliott made some great saves to keep them off the board. Both teams would pick up a few more chances before the end of the period, and the Bolts would take a 2-0 lead into the second period. Once again, despite the Flyers outshooting the Bolts, it was the Lightning that led on the scoreboard.

2nd Period

If we have learned anything from the last few games, it's that no lead is safe for the Lightning. Luckily for the Bolts Taylor Raddysh would stay hot, after scoring the first goal of his career last night, he blasted a shot from the right circle and extended the Bolts lead to three.

The Flyers would respond, but Elliott was locked in against his former team, and he continued to shut down anything they threw at him. The Lightning continued to thrive though, as they took back the momentum and capitalized. Boris Katchouk scored the first goal of his career after finding a loose rebound to give the Bolts a 4-0 lead.

The Flyers would then get a chance to stop the bleeding on a power-play opportunity as Bogosian was sent off for holding. However, things just kept getting worse for the Flyers as a bad Pass From Carter Hart was stolen by Joseph, who put the puck into an empty net for a 5-0 Lightning lead.

The Flyers would then make a goalie change just before the halfway mark of the second as Martin Jone entered the game in place of Carter Hart.

The Lightning controlled the rest of this period, continuing to pick up some chances and shutting the down the Flyers even when they had a man advantage. After the Flyers would fail to convert on the power play, they nearly scored on a shot that flew into the air but was cleared by Bogosian just before it crossed the line.... or so we thought. The horn would sound, and the officials would have to take a look at the last play.

After a lengthy review, it was determined that the puck did indeed cross the line, but it was high sticked, so the Flyers still did not have their first goal. The Bolts would then coast to the end of the second period, now leading it by a score of 5-0

3rd Period

The Lightning would continue to dominate this game as they had all of the momentum. The Flyers would pick up an occasional chance, but Elliott was giving the Flyers nothing. The Bolts would then continue to pile on the Goals as Perry made a beautiful pass to Pat Maroon to make it 6-0 Lightning.

Things then got a little chippy as a Flyers player took a little bit of a swing at Elliott, and Cal Foote did not take that kindly. After everyone was settled down, the Flyers would get a chance on the power play. The Flyers would finally get one Past Elliott, and his shutout bid would come to an end.

The Lightning would get the last laugh, though as the game winded down, they got a power-play chance of their own. Corey Perry then tipped a shot from McDonagh, and the Bolts now led 7-1.

This game would then finally come to a close as the Lightning dominated the Flyers and pick up their third win in a row.
