The Lightning improve to 14-8-1 after a historic 4-1 win against the Flyers. Here are three things we noticed from the game.
1000, By Any Means Necessary
With his secondary assist on Nick Paul's second goal of the game, Steven Stamkos became the 95th player in NHL history to reach 1000 career points, and the first in Lightning history. While a lot of people expected his 1000th point to be a goal (and the Lightning were certainly trying to get him that goal), but there was not doubt that Stamkos contributed to the goal.
Next up: 500 goals. Stamkos currently sits at 494 career goals, and would become the 47th player in NHL history with 500 career goals (first since Sidney Crosby).
Slump Buster
During the Bolt Report/RBLR season preview collaboration, my hot take was that Ross Colton was going to score 30 goals this season. Currently 22 games in, Colton sits at five goals, and that's after he got his first goal in six games on Tuesday night.
For Colton, he was able to get his scoring opportunity off of a rebound, his third such goal of the year. Colton hasn't really trusted his shot this year early on, something that he was able to do late year when he got red-hot in the middle of the season.
Fluery-ous Return
The Lightning went 11/7 once again, and saw the return of defenseman Haydn Fleury, who had not played since Nov. 21 against Boston. Fleury played a solid, responsible game when the Lightning needed it most, jumping up in the play a few times but staying very stoic overall.
If the Lightning want another deep playoff run, they need contributions from everyone. Fleury, when he draws into the lineup, included.
