The Lightning took on the Vancouver Canucks last night as they looked to extend their home game wining streak to nine. The Lightning would play this game with a fully healthy lineup after having a few players missing over the last few games. Here are a few things we noticed from each period.
1st Period
The first period was all Vancouver, as they dominated the period. The Canucks outshot the Lightning 8-0 at one point and were able to get an early 1-0 lead. The Lightning would eventually get a chance on the power play, and things began to shift. Corey Perry tipped a puck into the back of the net to tie the game, and the Lightning began to take back momentum.
2nd Period
The Lightning got off to a much better start in the second and even took the lead early in the period. However, a penalty against the Lightning took away their momentum, and the Canucks were able to tie the game.
The Lightning fought back, though, and again took control of the game once again. After a lot of good scoring chances, the Lightning were eventually Abel to get two goals from Kucherov and Hagel to give the Lightning a two-goal lead. Braydon Point was also once again playing on another level, dancing through defenders and showing off his incredible speed.
3rd Period
The Lightning, already up two, continued to push the pace of this game. They would eventually get an extended 5-on-3. Stamkos then rifled one home to pick up career goal number 499. A much-needed goal for Stamkos, who was playing well but could not find the back of the net in recent games.
The Canucks started to make a pushback late in the game, eventually pulling within one. Late in the game, the Canucks got one more huge chance to tie the game, but Vasilevskiy made one heck of a save to get the Lightning the win.

The Lightning's next game will be against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, January 14th, at 8:00 PM ET.
