The Lightning took on the Los Angeles Kings last night as they looked to set a new franchise record with 12 straight home wins. The game was also Gasperilla night for the Lightning, and they rocked their Gasperilla-themed warmup Jersyes. Here are a few things we noticed from the win.

Capitalizing on Turnovers

The Lightning got off to a great start, and it was all thanks to their ability to capitalize on the King's mistakes. The first two goals both came off of turnovers where a Lightning forward was able to scoop up the puck and then quickly make a pass giving them a great opportunity.

The Lightning were able to do this for the majority of the first period until the Kings settled things back down. Thanks to these turnovers, though, the Lightning were able to get two quick goals and many more chances throughout the game.

Nick Perbix

Perbix had an outstanding game as he made some good plays defensively and knew exactly when to jump on the play. Perbix is still a young defender, but games like this show he can be a very consistent piece for the Lightning in a deep playoff run. Perbix was able to pick up three assists in the game and was very good defensively.

Vasilevskiy

Vasilevskiy had another solid game in net with only two goals allowed. The first goal is one Vasilevskiy probably wants one back, as it just trickled by him. The second goal was not his fault, as Ian Cole tried to deflect the puck away and ended up creating a changeup for Vasilevskiy.

Other than the two goals, Vasilevskiy was solid and made some big save to prevent the Kings from getting back into the game. Vasilevskiy will now get set for a short break and then head down to sunrise with Kucherov for the All-Star game.

Three Stars

1. Perbix (3A)

2. Colton (1G)

3. Perry (1G))

The Lightning's next game will be against the Florida Panthers on Monday, Febuary 6th, at 7:00 PM ET.
