The Tampa Bay Lightning looked to continue their two-game winning streak against the league-leading Boston Bruins, and here is how they stacked up.

Here are the biggest takeaways from the Lightning's 5-4 overtime win over the Boston Bruins.
Overtime
Let's start with the end of the game. The Lightning had not won an overtime game since 2022 with 11 straight losses. Tonight they controlled the puck the entire time and ended it on another fantastic breakaway goal from Brandon Hagel. This was a big win not only for the season but for the Lightning to get some confidence back when heading into overtime. The key was winning the opening face-off, which is something the Lightning had not been able to do.
Offense
The offense has been playing well over the last few games, and there are a number of players to point out. Kucherov, who actually missed a decent amount of this game with an injury, was playing extremely well, making great passes and ripping the puck on the net. But let's be honest, who is really surprised? Stamkos also had a great game, with an all-important game-tying goal in the final seconds, the captain coming through when it mattered most.
Really, every line tonight was hustling up and down the ice, and it was great to see. Paul got another goal on the power play, and Hagel should officially be the first shooter in the shootout every time with yet another breakaway goal.
Eyssimont
When the Lightning lost Yanni Gourde to the expansion draft, the Bolts lost one of their hardest-working players. Enter Mikey Eyssimont. Eyssimont was under the Bruins's skin all night and was constantly in on puck battles. Even though he isn't out there scoring goals, he is allowing the Lightning to draw penalties and keep their momentum up in a huge game,
Final thoughts
Just a fantastic game from the Lightning. Yes, there were turnovers and goals Johansson probably wants back. But overall, the Lightning outplayed the best team in the NHL and won in overtime. This was a massive win for the Bolts and was such a fun game to watch. We have to give a shoutout to Watson as well, who scored his first goal as a Bolt against the Bruins. Oh, and they did it without Vasilevskiy.
