The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially released a teaser trailer for their new third jersey... there's just one problem. The jerseys were leaked months ago.

Nevertheless, we have you covered with all the hidden details behind the Bolt's new threads for this season.

The Leaks

Back in January, leaks came out of a potential Lightning third jersey that was found in stores, as pictured in the tweet below. And as we go through everything from the Lightning's teaser video, a lot of details are lining up, and this is indeed what they will look like.

Please keep in mind that these are not official jerseys, and the final product could be altered once fully released, based on what we see in the tweet below.

Teaser Video

If you missed the official teaser video, you can check it out below.

One of the first things you will notice are clips from each of the Lightning's Stanley Cup wins in 2004, 2020, and 2021. This lines up with what we saw in the leaks with those three years in the neck area of the jersey. Each of the years also featured a different Lightning jersey color, which is a theme throughout this teaser.

Next, you will notice a series of quick cuts showing off parts of the actual jersey.

While they are a little dark, we can again pick out a few things. The first is that the colors in the video are black, blue, and white, just like the colors worn by the Lightning in their three Stanley Cup wins. The Lightning also used three stripes in their game dates graphic, which are white, blue, and grey, but that was probably done since the graphic is black, and you can't really have a black stripe on a black background.

Next, you might notice that the traditional Lightning primary logo is missing. If you take a look at the picture in the top right, you will see the word Lightning spelled out in a circle, which you might recognize as Lightning's secondary patch logo on other jerseys. This also corresponds with the logo being used on the Tampa Bay Lightning website and the one on the jersey in the leaks.

Also, similar to the leaked jerseys, one shot shows off the NHL logo with laces just below it. However, the ones in the leaks are all black, whereas the ones in the video seem to be white.

One of the last shots we see might be the most exciting part, and that is a shot of a helmet. While it is hard to tell because of the dark background and low Lighting this looks to be a matt black helmet, which is something we saw the Canucks do with their latest third jersey.

When will they be worn?

The Last thing you will see in the teaser video is three numbers, which are the dates the jersey will be worn this year. If you head over to the Lightning website, you will see the three listed games.

It is unclear if there will be more dates after February or even after this year, but considering this is a third jersey and not just a league-wide event like the reverse retros, we should see these again, whether it's in March or next year.

When will they be released, and where can I buy them?

In the Lightning's tweet, they wrote the date 2/15/24, which is the presumed first time we will see the Jerseys and likely the first time they will be available for purchase. This falls in line with releases the Lightning have done in the past, like when they unveiled the Disrupt the Night jerseys a few years back.

The jerseys will likely be available for purchase at the Arena or on the Lightningsoffcial merch store Tampa Bay Sports. At this time, there is no official word on cost, but expect them to be around what normal jerseys cost, which is $180 for a blank and $280 for a custom one.
