A day after trading restricted free agent Ross Colton to the Colorado Avalanche, the Lightning have made another trade, sending pending UFA Corey Perry to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2024 7th round pick.

After losing to the Lightning in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, Perry signed with the Bolts in the summer of 2022 and spent two seasons in Tampa, Perry had 31 goals and 34 assists for 65 points in 163 regular-season games, and another 16 points in 29 playoff games across two seasons. Perry helped the Lightning reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2022, where they lost to the Avalanche in six games.

Overall, this is a tidy piece of business from Julien Brisebois. Perry wasn't re-signing, and now they have an extra pick to use to re-stock the prospect pool if they so choose.
